At Granville EYELAND
Framemakers we create custom & handmade eyewear. As one of two
framemakers in Canada, we pride ourselves in creating unique
designs which are valued by people who know that eyewear helps
express creativity and personality. Searching the world for
the most innovative designs and technology allows us to offer a
wide variety of frames from acetate, to stainless steel, and
titanium. For the eyeglass connoisseur we also offer our
one-of-a-kind designs; and hand made frames crafted from gold,
silver, antique tortoise shell, African water buffalo, and
wood.
Inspiration
for our store began with the creative mind of German-born eyewear
designer Klaus Sebök when he made his home in Vancouver over 40
years ago. From the very beginning, Klaus viewed the eyewear
industry differently. To Klaus, eyeglasses represent the image of a
person and the finishing touches of a wardrobe, therefore, if eyes
are truly the windows to the soul, why not dress them
accordingly?
After
graduating from her Optician Program, Sara Moshurchak approached
Klaus about working at Granville EYELAND Framemakers and has worked
alongside him since 2001, first as an Optician, then finally taking
over the business in 2008. “I am constantly inspired by
his ideas and creativity; we continue to work together to bring the
most unique products to our customers.” Sara stays involved
in her profession and is the current president of her professional
association, the OBC: Opticians of British Columbia, and also sits
on various committees with the College of Opticians of British
Columbia and Douglas College.
There are over 350
pairs of glasses to try on and an unlimited potential in
one-of-a-kind Sebök designs. There's the option of rimless glasses,
for the weightless, "I'm not wearing glasses" look. Wedding
glasses, with the lace of your dress laminated into the frames.
There's gold, silver, antique tortoise shell, African water
buffalo, and wood frame options, or there's the popular titanium
frame that's screwless and extremely flexible. The sky is truly the
limit on style, but not the price. All you need is the freedom to
stray from the norm, and voilà, a new you!
You could call us
here at Granville EYELAND "the haute couture of the spectacles
industry". We have developed an international following. Customers
from Switzerland, Dallas, France, Japan, Australia and the
Caribbean all want our original designs.
Our first
customer was Robin Williams, who was in town filming a movie when
he came across the almost-wireless rims he fashions today. Other
famous customers include Elton John, Steve Martin, Ed Asner, James
Tupper, Nathan Fillian, Alan Cumming, Bruce Springsteen, The Lover
Boys and Vancouver's media personalities, Pia Shandel, Alan
Fotheringham and Doc Harris.
We are open
everyday, so be sure to drop by soon to see some of our distinctive
